The Government is officially relaxing the rules from July 19th with regards to Covid regulations. Here is what it means for climbing and Chimera…
Tunbridge Wells:
From the 19th July, you will no longer need to book your session via TopLogger, you can just turn up and climb.
Canterbury:
From the 19th July, you will only need to book your sessions via TopLogger in the busiest parts of the week. These are 5 - 10pm on weekday evenings and 8am - 2pm at weekends. If you are climbing outside of these times, you can just turn up.
Supervision Ratios – Both centres
The supervision ratios if you are bringing kids are changing. One supervising non-climbing adult can bring two children, but if the adult wants to climb, they can only supervise one child.
Weekend afternoons – Both centres
There will no longer be any tuition or lessons for kids after 2pm at the weekend – not even squads. This will be an adult only climbing time.
What to do if you have symptoms:
If you have any symptoms of Covid, you must not climb at either centre. Instead you should take a Covid test and isolate while you await the results, and then follow the Government guidelines.
If you test positive for Covid and have recently climbed at Chimera, please ring the centre and inform them.
The official Government guidance can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-response-summer-2021-roadmap/coronavirus-how-to-stay-safe-and-help-prevent-the-spread
You are all climbers – you understand risks and know how to adjust your behaviour accordingly, so please, as per the Government guidelines, be sensible.
At Chimera Climbing, we take the health and safety of our customers and staff extremely seriously. Please do rest assured that we have put in place appropriate COVID security measures to keep you and your family as safe as possible whilst visiting the centre. We are strictly adhering to the Governmental guidelines and complying with the stringent advice of the ABC and BMC.
Although we cannot guarantee that the surfaces you come into contact with at Chimera will have been disinfected, we can guarantee that you will have plenty of opportunity to disinfect your own hands using the various sanitisers around the centre.
To maintain a safe capacity limit and to ensure adherence to social distancing restrictions, we have elected to adopt a time-limited session that can be pre-booked online.
Each Centre has a strict COVID-capacity limit. If you turn up at the centre without pre-booking, you may well find that we are already at capacity, in which case you will be refused entry.
As well as allowing you to book your climbing session, the new TopLogger app will also allow you to log your ascents and keep track of your climbing record and compare yourself (in a friendly way of course) to your mates. You can also keep up to date with the new blocs as they are set, grade each climb that you send, and most importantly leave setting reviews.
We are looking forward to seeing you all crushing in the centre again soon.
Big Love.
Chris, Andre & The Chimera Team
