This coming Saturday, Chimera Tunbridge Wells are hosting the latest bouldering round of the Youth Climbing Series competition. This event is aimed at getting youngsters into climbing, something we can all get behind.
This is a closed competition for competitors who are taking part in the whole of the BMC’s Youth Climbing Series.
If you are competing, please walk straight ahead when you enter to the special registration desk which will be manned by a representative from the BMC. Registration open at 09:00 for Category B and C children, and 12:00 for Category A, D and E only. You will be issued a coloured wristband upon registering.
Category B and C will have their briefing at 09:45 and start climbing at 10:00. Their comp finishes at 12:30.
Category A, D and e will have their briefing at 12:45, and start climbing at 13:00. Their comp finishes at 15:30.
The youngest category are allowed either one parent or one coach on that mats with them. There will be no other parents or coaches allowed on the mats during the competition, but you can watch from the upstairs mezzanine area. There will be teas and coffees available throughout the day from main reception, along with a range of energy bars and tray bakes.
There will be breakfast food available in the morning from the Fire and Crust trailer outside, and then there will be pizza available throughout the afternoon.
The competition should finish by 4pm.
The centre will be staying open late on Saturday night for the public to have a go on the new climbs, and to make a night of it, Fire and Crust will be sticking around and there will be a DJ on. The wall is stay open until 8pm, so there should be plenty of time to get a decent session in.
